Walworth County

General traffic conditions

The entire Geneva Lake area is a rural setting and traffic is generally not a concern. There are peak times when exits and on-ramps to Interstate Highways are filled with area commuters. There are also peak times when tourism traffic is heavier than usual. If the sun is shining on a Friday afternoon, it is not uncommon for the traffic to be heavier than normal within a community.

When large events are held, of course there will be traffic to consider as participants and guests enter and exit the venue. For example, before and after concerts at Alpine Valley Music Theater near East Troy in the northeast portion of the county, traffic is heavy and highly monitored by local law enforcement. Lake Geneva can be congested as visitors move about the city between traffic lights or on to another nearby community. During the Walworth County Fair in Elkhorn, traffic is higher but still moves relatively smoothly.
