Using a combination of talents, the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater’s Theatre/Dance Department and Department of Music are collaborating to produce Mozart’s “The Marriage of Figaro.”

Every three years, the departments work together on a performance, and this year’s comic opera will be full of twists, turns and interweaving plots.

“The Marriage of Figaro” opens at 2 p.m. Sunday, and will continue with performances at 7:30 p.m. Feb 24, Feb. 26 and Feb. 28 in the Barnett Theatre in the Greenhill Center of the Arts.

For tickets, call (262) 472-2222 or go online to www.tickets.uww.edu.

Set to a libretto of Mozart’s collaborator, Lorenzo Da Ponte, this witty opera demonstrates Mozart’s classic style; it tells of the experiences of a group of lovers as they spend a chaotic day in Count Almaviva’s palace, where they face infidelity, fake identities and love.

Created as a sequel to “The Barber of Seville,” its twisted interweaving plots and hilarious acts have long garnered the admiration of audiences.

Performed in English, the production “The Marriage of Figaro” is coordinated by Charles “Skip” Grover, with music direction by Robert Gehrenbeck, vocal coaching by Brian Leeper and staging by guest artist Chía Patiño.

According to a letter written by Da Ponte, “The Marriage of Figaro” was based on the comedic play by the same name written by Beaumarchais.

The design team for “The Marriage of Figaro” includes UW-W faculty members Tracey Lyons, Steve Chené and Eric Appleton.

The stage manager and props master is Cassy Schillo, with help from assistant stage managers Lauren Goggins, Elizabeth Marks and Kristina Wortman and assistant props master Matt Norby.
